Immigration-Related Hearings in the 112th Congress
In the 112th Congress, in the House, immigration restrictionists assumed responsibility for Chairing the Judiciary Committee and its Immigration Subcommittee. Elton Gallegly, the new Chair of the Immigration Subcommittee, set about holding a series of hearings not meant to gather information for possible legislation, but rather to portray immigrants and immigration as bad for America.
